week3 - |
Apple's Vision Pro was released this last week and dominated the twitter and youtube feed for a solid ... two days. This technology might be the first really gaming changing personal technology since I suppose health/data tracking smart watches were released - apple watch, etc... There's innovation happening constantly, but the big ones have their own category in my opinion. The handheld gaming device, the cell phone, the ipod/mp3 players, the smart phone, the smart watch. Things that people looked forward to and adopted quickly in the tech world, but I can't imagine anyone would have for-seen their future ubiquity.
We on the outside of the VR world have heard rumblings of big steps being made with facebook or Meta being at the forefront. But apple seems to be a bit better at bridging the gap between tech and mainstream and their eagerly anticipated release of the Vision pro seems to have ushered in more mainstream interest in the world of VR products.
Is this a flash in the pan? Will the cost prohibitive $3500.00 dissuade widespread adoptions? How much will the price go down in the next few years... so much will unfold so quickly. It'll be exciting to see what happens.
